Ulaanbaatar

You know you're in Ulaanbaatar when:

Two people you know say they had their auras checked. Not only did they see the color of their auras, the lady who checked it also had a few things to say about their future.

One of your friends says she asked her her sister-in-law about your future and found out that you will very quickly get married and have kids. Within the year. With her husband's friend.

So yeah, I got here over a week ago. Flying with sinusitis is torture of a different kind. The air pressure does something to your sinus cavities, making the pain worse and your nose whistle. Because of my sinuses, when I got to the boarding gate about 3 hours in advance, I decided to lie down and try to take a short nap. Except I went into a deep slumber and when I woke up, the boarding area was completely empty.

I jump up, throw on my glasses, grab my crap and run to the gate. "Ulaanbaatar - FINAL CALL". The plane took off within five minutes after my butt hit the seat.

Just when we were ready to land in UB, it started to snow heavily and the plane had to quickly gain speed and altitude. We spent about an hour in a holding pattern over UB, going round and around. I had no idea whether we would actually be able to make the landing or whether we'd have to fly back to Seoul or make an emergency landing somewhere nearby.

After 50 minutes in the sky, we landed on a clean runway in good visibility.

Felt like I never left.

Cities and relationships

There are cities with which you have a love-hate relationship. You have known him since forever and you value what he means to you. He will always be a part of your life, and yet, there are so many things you hate about him. In a way, I guess that is inevitable. Like Courtney Love moans in "Doll Parts": I love him so much it just turns to hate! However, if anyone else has anything to say about him, you will always stand up for him and defend him with everything you've got. You've just known him for so long that it doesn't matter if you hate him anymore. Yes, I know... Complicated. Ulaanbaatar.

Then there are those that never really worked out. You have always checked him out from afar. You met once, you clicked, it was all beautiful and sunny... But unfortunately, life took you on a different tangent. Because nothing really happened in this case, you still fantasize about him and never lose faith that one day you will get the chance to know him better. London.

You know that one that seems to be so beautiful and intriguing on the outside, and yet, for some reason there is just no chemistry? No matter how much you try to keep an open mind and get to know him more, there is just an undeniable lack of chemistry and coldness there... Riga.

Then you have the exotic and slightly dangerous one. No matter how much time has passed, he will always be close to your heart, with all his rough edges. But you have moved on and he has become a thing of the past, and you're both okay with that. New Delhi.

There are those that played a major role in my growth in a short period of time, there are those you wish you knew better and so many others that are yet to be discovered.

As for New York? I don't know. Nothing is clear at the moment... I am past the infatuation phase and now there is an impending break ahead. But something tells me we just might end up getting married someday :-P

Shopping list

If I had to leave New York in just a week for an undetermined period time, what would I buy?

1. Urban Decay Naked Palette

Because I don't have one. And you know everybody needs one.

2. Blush brush

3. Philosophy cleanser

I have been using this cleanser for about a year and a half, and it is the best! Moisturizing on the dry bits and good on the oily bits. I tried to switch it up with cleansers for a short while in between but I am back to using this one again.

4. BBW Stress Relief candle

This smells soooo good! I used the body lotion all summer, so whenever I burn the candle, I know I will be reminded of New York.

5. Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief moisturizer

Been meaning to buy this moisturizer for a while but never got around to it. I know it will be perfect for my extremely dry skin.

6. Zara leggings

The quality of their leggings is really good. The black never fades, no matter how much you wash it, and the fabric is nice and thick and doesn't wear out over time as other leggings tend to do. Plus I love their designs.

7. Statement leggings/pants/shirt (this or this or this)

I've been avoiding all these tribal prints because they are EVERYWHERE! But if I'll be leaving New York, I wouldn't mind wearing them.

8. Plaid shirt

Easiest outfit ever, paired with leggings and boots.

9. Beanie. Hahahaha, no way! (Mishka was one of my many nicknames)

10. Knuckle rings.

11. Chain link necklace.

12. Steve Madden Troopa

Even though I avoided buying this one in hopes of finding a better version, I might as well join the bandwagon. Growing up, I always had a pair of similar boots and I used to wear them with EVERYTHING!

13. VS pajamas

Although I suppose the cotton ones would make more sense in cold weather...

14. Any old small purse for going out.

With a very limited budget, let's see how many of the above I'll be able to purchase.
